pros and cons on removing front cats

I'm about to install Magnaflow cat back system with a high flow cat. Is there much of an advantage in removing the front 2 cats on my 1990 Vette? Will it make the exhaust that much louder? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

it will gain noise... it might also pop a little... but it won't effect emissions at all... and will add power.

I would loose them.

Do a search on removing the precats. you can also check out vader86's website. but basically you will be fine without them, especially if you get a 3-stage cat.

Mine are both empty (main cat is hollow too), but still in place. I get a raspier sound with popping. I like it though

Got rid of them on my 90 and installed a high flow cat and it woke the car right up. I also did a 52 mm throtle body with it. It also got a little louder. It was well worth it. If you do it, buy the 2 1/2" diameter pipes not the 2 1/4. Got mine from Mid America.
