i just replaced a jammed idle air controller. the idle speed would go slower
and slower every time i turned the car on. when it got to 500 i decided to
take out iac and look at it. my question is why was there never a trouble
code? doesn't the ecm monitor the idle speed?
There are no trouble codes for the IAC. The ECM commands the position of the IAC (number of counts) based on the desired idle speed programmed into the ECM and the actual idle speed of the engine.
