There have been some posts stating that the MSD Opti-Spark (not just a cap and rotor) has been released and in customer's hands.
I've not heard of the results of an install yet.
And I believe you can get a GM Opti cheaper than $500 too.

I know its been asked before but where does everyone stand tonight.
What brand do you suggest?
Where did you purchase?
Do you suggest just the cap & rotor or the whole distributer?
I'd like to get this ordered tonight & installed by the end of the weekend. I can start tearing into the car tonight. What fun??!!
If you want the very best replacement unit you can buy that has a proven record in the field, the DynaSpark is the ticket.
If you feel like being a guinea pig for the new MSD unit -- and if it's actually available now -- go for it.
If you'd rather spend far less than the ~$600 that the DynaSpark would cost, go with a replacement OEM unit from Superior Chevy, and apply RTV to all housing seams prior to installing it.
The OEM Second-Gen Optis are pretty reliable, if they don't get doused with water or coolant.
The DynaSpark is nearly bulletproof unless you're going to rev it well above 6 grand, and is totally watertight (DynoTech encouraged me to hose mine down if I wanted to).
If you're gonna rev the engine way-high, the DynaSpark with the high-rev kit (no rotor) in combination with the Delteq DIS conversion setup is your best bet.

That is great news. They are 10 min. away from me.
Hi!! New to the Board and Corvettes too. I had my C4 for less than a month when we had to replace this bad boy part. Chev wanted almost $700, and found that Summit Racing (800-230-3030) had the AC Delco part for $379 (back in January). Part #NAL-10457702
