On my 96' I noticed my Back Up Lights don't work..I also noticed my CAGS Harness is disconnected from the Trans. with no Skip Adapter harness.Could this be the culprit?

I had the same problem with my 89 roadster (I had a bad backup switch on the tranny) you can test the switch by unplugging it and using a paper clip to jumper the two lugs in the plug make sure the ignition switch is on and if the switch is bad the lights will come on
CAGS problem should not affect backup light curcuit.
I had the same problem and it was a failure of the switch bolted to the tranny. Do a search on how to replace the switch as I remember it was a pain to replace. It was difficult to get a socket or wrench on it.

I had to remove clutch slave and GAGS and if I remember the size of the switch is 22mm
The earlier mentioned test with the paperclip works great. I had a bad switch that worked intermitantly. Replacing the switch was a pain. I think I had to removed the clutch slave cylinder to get a wrench on the switch. I did get it done and everything works fine.

I forgot to mention when testing B/U lights with paperclip DON'T LET THE CLIP TOUCH THE TRANNY OR IT WILL BLOW A FUSE I know it happened to me

On the '96, the same fuse circuit controls both the CAGS and the backup lights.
Check the fuse. The PO might have disabled the CAGS by pulling the fuse (#26, IIRC), then, after disconnecting the CAGS harness, he forgot to replace the fuse.
