I was driving this morning minding my own business, when all of a sudden i start to put my foot on the accelerator and the car bogs and quits. It sputtered for a bit then I rolled to a stop. What the hell is wrong with my car?
well... it would help a lot if you tolds what kinda car... and don't just say "Corvette."
We need year, engine, transmission, mileage, a basic idea of mods and maintenance history.
The C4 changed so much during it's run that a problem for a 1984 is different than a 1985 which is different than a 1989 which is even more different than a 1992... and I don't even want to get into ZR1s.
It takes air, fuel, and spark, all in the right quantities and at the right time. Something went away. You tell us.
RACE ON!!!
I agree with CFI-EFI on this one. One of these is missing. Could be fuel (more likely the pump, strainer, or water in gas), need to check pressure at idle and while driving. Unless something crazy happened to the air flow, but more than likely not. And spark, like plugs all carboned up, wires burnt by the exhaust, or something electrical with the distubitor. Might me a shorted distrubitor wiring. All guesses. As someone already stated, if the Service Engine Soon light is on, check the codes.
Yes I would agree with Bogus that the VATS only giving problems on start up.
I've been having a lot of problems with my car quitting lately, especially from part throttle. I went from thinking its water in the gas, using Iso Heat water remover, clogged fuel filter, short and/or vacuum leak in EGR + removing the EGR solonoid, to removal of the whole EECS system and vacuum lines, including the canister and its purge solenoid, bad fuel pump relay, bad ECM(3 days ago), to dirty cap and rotor(2 days ago), to low .45 volt TPS signal(yesterday), and today a *now* suspected loose connection to the CTS, since the harness connector lacks a connector weatherpak locking clip. Yes, that is all in order! It gets worse from there...
