need to check timing on my 88(l-98), which wire gets disconnected&where is it located, did many others but w/cent. advance(pull&plug hose) first time with this type setup. :chevy
should be near the drivers side valve cover near firewall.
I "think" its a tan wire with black stripe. it should be outside the plastic conduit already. I highly recomend getting a manual from your local auto parts store if your going to work on your vette. it can be the best money you spend on your car...
there are lots of things that have to be done in the right order to work correctly.
setting timing is not too bad, but you should disconnect the battery for 30sec after your done to clear codes in the ECM.
Other things (like setting the idle) can take longer than you would believe.
I agree. You will find that many repairs on these cars require additional information. the jos are straightforward but time consuming. You should always have a service or repair manual at hand while you are making fixes. An investment in a repair manual will turn out to be one of your best investments.
ol, rj, found the wire , will try later to set timing, I just put on accel base(dist. comes out), #24 sv inj., hookers& slp runners which dont work(pissed)have to call slp about fit, I am use to workin on cars &bikes but wasnt sure about timing wire, the manual I have isnt to descriptive for this, exact timing is imp..
wiring diagram? ouch, thats the hard way.
should be in the maintinence or tune up section complete with picture of wire..
good luck with your project.
