I'm sure it's been discussed frequently in this forum but , I would like some opinions on Exaust systems, preferably low cost with a throatier sound than stock that look good as well. I have been told that Walker is a good , low cost alternative to Borla, Corsa or Power Effects
Also has anyone installed the cold-air kit from SLP??

Re: C4 Exaust (95vett)
Low cost and throaty...that describes my car. Just find a local exhaust shop to cut off your mufflers. It's really not as loud as most people make it out to be. Very comfortable for cruising, but with a deep throaty sound. Really wakes up when you get on it. Only cost me $70 for a very professional job by a local shop.
So you had your mufflers replaced with straight pipes? Any resonances on the highway? I have an L98 and was contemplating doing that, but wasn't sure of the sound.
Any L98's out there with no muffs or elims, just straight pipes?

Re: C4 Exaust (pzoom)
Not really any resonance, maybe just a little at 2000-2300, but it's really not that noticeable. Of course I still have both cats, and the resonator that sits in front of the rear diff. The sound is really great, everyone in the local Vette club loves it, and the girlfriend really doesn't seem to mind either.
I also had a local muffler shop put "muffler eliminators" on my car (85 automatic). More power and better gas mileage. Best part is the sound :yesnod: Deep, throaty, and no resonance.
You won't get resonance by removeing the mufflers it sounds great but if you do as i have install headers no cats or mufflers and you will have resonance how bad depends on who you ask. The ones that are just barly old enough to get into the bar think it is great older ones get tired of the resonance. Well I'am tired of the resonance guess I'll go have a glass of prune juice :U
pacesetter in Phoenix has a reasonably priced system. not loud but not to quiet either. 4 tips that match the shape of the taillights. don't remember the cost but i will call them and ask if you want. a friend of mine works there and they used my car to build the prototype.
How much popping is involved when you use muffler elims?? A buddy of mine had straight pipes on his Mustang and is sounded like S@$* All you could hear was pop-pop-pop-pop-pop. Deep and throaty is good but when your car sounds like it is backfiring that is not good.....
I had a local shop weld on some muffler elims. :U They resonate between 2000 and 2300 rpm really bad. The sound like a 6 cylinder with a fart can from idle to 3000 rpm. At WOT over 4000 rpm they sound...... O.K. not great.
I'm gonna have my shop weld on some dynomax super turbos. I had them on a 5.0 stang, 69 stang and LT1 Camaro and all of those sounded SSHHWWEEETT. I hate the idea of spending $800 -$1200 for an exhaust system that may sound like crap too.
What is it with the C-4 exhaust resonance?? Is it the fiberglass? I mean that LTI Camaro I had all I did is have the dynomax super turbo welded in place of the factory muffler and it sounded great. You could here the car rumble up the road. MMM MMM. :yesnod:
