working on my big block set-up to try to make the drop-in ez ...doing the belt drives now...strongly considering tossing the power steering which would simplify the belt rig and loose a few more much un-needed pounds....i owned several big-block c3's w/o power and have done a couple street rods w/o power racks(altho the rods are skinny tires/ light front end)...any comments?
Aren't the C4 big block guys just moving the rack foward some?
yeah, but i don't want to butcher the frame, i have cutting and welding equipment, and if it was anything else i'd chop it up...i'm also not thrilled by welding on it as it is apparently not mild steel--i have a scrap crossmember that i did some preliminay testing on and its not your typical auto frame.
it would be cleaner , easier, lighter without the p/s.
i've already made a serp pulley that fits without moving the rack ( i've got a mock-up using a good spare crossmember) altho installation in the car is gonna be a pita
