Default Fuel Line diameter upgrade

My wonderful wife bought me the Racetronix 255lph fuel pump and wiring set for my birthday and while I install that I might as well install new fuel lines with it (for the future FI build) I believe 3/8 tubing is on there now. I noticed Jeg's has fuel line kits for a good price, what size should I step up to or should I keep it the same?

Thx

how much power are you making? i read you profile, if your car is stock, the 255 is way too much pump for the car. even with an adjustable fuel pressure reg., you will still run rich. are you spraying a lot?

I would vote in favour of 3/8" for the feed line up to around 400+ CHP.

Running larger lines is not something I'd undertake without due
consideration. I have not done this on a C4 but I have a passing
familiarity with the OEM lines. It is often a challange to find room in
the same locations as the stock lines pass through.

Keep in mind that the return line ought to be increased commensurately
in order to be able to cope with the additional flow of the supply line.

Hmm I didn't consider that, should I wait until I start my engine mods before getting the new fp? Yeah right now it is stock, about to begin a rebuild, thought I could go ahead and get that for the future. So even with an AFPR I am going to run rich? Sounds like a part I can do without for now...

in the blowerworks catalog, greg says that the stock c4 fuel lines are good for up to 600 hp to the flywheel. i have not tested this but i will take his word on it. also in the tpis book "insider hints" they suggest that a stock gm pump is good for 400 hp.

cb4, what mods are you planning to run on your car? if you don't have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, get that, it will be a good compliment to all of your future mods. if you already have an exhaust, adding a little more fuel pressure will make the car run way better.

A bigger pump will not make your car rich.

The regulator will take care of that. I will tell you though, if you didn't know, that the stock pump was replaced on that car a couple of years ago.
BTW, for the plans you have for that car, you'll need the better pump eventually. Don't worry about the lines. Only an extremely radical engine needs more than 3/8".
