89, replaced all 3 relays, cleaned wiring, as per agents86 info, reset codes, after three starts. the codes reappear....what else may be wrong wtih the circuit? ECM was replaced for other reasons and is new
!.. the maff sensor is good as i tested it in the 87..it was good!
please help, thanks
i tempted to sell it soon. move to another C5 0r C6,
When you say all 3 relays-Burnoff, power and fuel pump relay-right?
connections are clean a both MAF and ECM right? you've removed the air tube, looked into the MAY and saw all wires intact, I'm referring to the element wires.Oh, and you checked the wires going into the FP relay? Have you followed the FSMs trouble shooting to check for open circuits? That's all I can think of now...will wait for you to respond.

yes all three..clean connection throughout evry terminal and exmined for possible shorts. testcircuit FSM standard. power IS THERE..clean ecm terminals done that when i replaced it 4 days ago ( other unrelated problem).. so to put it .. new relays new ecm, maff sensor working (becuz it works in the 87, no codes ), checked FSM, trouble guide.
I know you're frustrated and I will try to help....did you try putting the MAF from the 87 into the 89 ? that should totally eliminate the MAF. That will certainly narrow the problem and most likely lead us on to curing the problem.
Sounds to me that if you replaced the burnoff, power, FP relay, MAF is known working, and checked the connections at the ECM. Then there is a problem with wiring. I would double check the wiring to rule out faulty ECM, usually the last on the list. What did you come to when following Agent86's FSM diagrams?

..
yes i inter changed maffs .. both work..!!
clean and checked pins at the ECM, i have sice started 3 times with no codes.. i trying it one more ttime.. now that makes 4 times...if it does it again.. good.. if not i wont need fix it going straight to the saturn dealer and trade it for A new "SKY"..roadster.ummmmmmmm

Well, before you have brain infarct. Check over the wiring again. With these car anything is possible . Remove the loom and look at the wires.
i did that seems to start now without codes.. i remove the ECM harness and shot it(with electrical cleaner) again.. it MAy have cured the issue.. we see when i drive it tomorrow..
for now .. thaanks for the help.. but you ever know may need help again ....
I happen to think you cured the problem by removing the parts and reconnecting the parts several times...which probably means you inadvertently cleaned a bad connection!!!!!!!!!

that's a given...i took it for a drive and talked to it very nicely , ah baby are you gonna make it home tonite......

on the 13th start , the f(&(&(*()in thing threw code 36, again..
i have replaced just about everything. leaving the maff snsor out of (becuz both that i have been test working)....i have had it with this ... the car willl be sold in the near future...
You have already proven that you have a bad connection IMO.
i left the C4 the garage today. it can fix it self, when the new saturn "SKY" (a striking resemblance of a mini corvette)arrives in august .. it (C4)gone!!!... It the Sky looked pretty dam good next to my C5...
i spend thousands on these two C4's i have.. too dam much!
Just a suggestion but push the pins on the MAF wiring harness closer together with a small pick. This was my problem after my 383 went in and the frustration of playing for two weeks with it and buying another MAF to no avail made things worse. You've proven its something small, this might just be it. Doesn't cost you anything but 5 minutes. Good luck!

you may rite, it probably is a small thing now,,,i try that.. And thanks for the suggestion.
If you have followed the diagnosis chart from the FSM to the letter and still have a code 36 after replacing all the know relays and MAF sensor then it is either on of these:
1. a short in one of the circuits.
2. a problem with one of the connections (burnoff relay, power relay, or MAF).
3. A faulty ECM itself. This is rare but does happen usually involving more than just a code 36.
