Doesn't add up? Also some were neither CE nor GS, I have one.
Just because you have one doesn't make it so. If it doesn't add up ask Mike Antonick, it's from his book the Corvette Black Book, pgs. 104 & 105. There were a total of 21,536 '96s produced, and both Collector editions and Grand sports are listed.

I think what he is saying, which by the way I agree with is this.
1000 + 5412 does not equal 6359. Just because it is printed in a book does not mean it is a fact.

Sorry, not trying to ruffle feathers here, just trying to provide the info asked for. The original question had two parts, how many LT4's, how many Collector editions. None of the Collector editions are listed with LT4's, however of the 6,359 LT4's produced, 1,000 of them were Grand Sports, 5,359 were not. I hope this clears up the math issue.
According to this page all you have to do on the collectors editions is add up how many 6-speeds there were to figure out LT-4 numbers....
So there were 2,828 collectors editions with LT-4s
There were 1,000 Grand Sports with LT-4s
Leaving 2.531 regular C4's with LT-4s
Which doesnt make sense to me actually because that would mean a regular C4 with an LT4 is more rare than a Collector Edition with an LT4....So I went on the same site and added up all the normal C4's with 6-Speeds coming up with 4,095 made. So Im going to go and say that this site is a "little" off. Just my 2 cents. ****All of this was a quick windows calculator add up...so I might have inserted a number in the wrong place...this is just my guesstimate off that site*****

Huh? Are you sure you mean what you posted?
I just meant your math doesn't add up, don't sweat it, it's no big deal. I have friends BTW that I race with that have both GS & CE. The GS is rare the CE is a very nice Corvette, just like the one "I don't have".
BTW2 you will find as you get more involved in the Corvette community that there is almost no limit to the erroneous information that one comes across, including the books by the "experts".

In other words RPO Z16 included the LT4, RPO Z15 did not.

All GS's are LT4, some CE's and some base model Vettes are LT4.
It may be that the CE's & base model Vettes that have 6 speeds are all LT4. I think I read that somewhere no automatics had LT4.
Oh maybe 1 unofficial out the back door for a special customer
I think that since there was only around 2800 collectors editions produced makes it a rare vehicle. The GS is rarer but any model in which so few were produced and is now 10 years old is in fact rare. LT 4 's were produced for count them 1 year and that in itself makes all LT 4's rare no matter what they are in. Recent auction here in Kissimmee, Fl Mecum auction....Grand Sport $80,000.00 . Someone must think they are rare and yes the Grand Sports are the most rare but you can't think Collectors Editions are that far behind. As with other vehicles I have collected over the years you will start to see all of the quality 96's harder to find. At our favorite corvette dealer here in sunny Florida, Rogers Corvette's will tell you how rare Collectors Editions are cause the cheapest one he has is $32,900.00.
BTW I got my 96 CE LT4 from Roger's. Great experience. What I have is a basically new car. It had 10719 miles on a 2 owner car. His prices are high compared to other dealers, KBB, or Edmunds, but I believe you get what you pay for.
