Default Oil temperature switch/sensor

Does anyone have any info on the oil temp switch/sensor, no one seems to list it locally. Is there a number i could cross reference?
If anybody could shed some light, it would be appreciated.

First you have to decide that you are looking for. There is an oil pressure SWITCH that is wired into the fuel pump power supply. And the is an oil temperature SENDER that supplies input for the oil temp gauge. Neither of these, of course, should be confused with the oil pressure sender. In summery, for oil pressure, there are both a sender and a switch. For oil temperature, only a sender.

It threads right above the oil filter on L98's. Not cheap though.

Default Always low

My oil temp guage has read low since i bought the car last year. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I thougt I'd change it while I have the exhaust off and there is more room up in there.

Yup. Should be to the right side of the filter.

I didn't cross your part number, but I did look it up for you in my GM, Corvette parts book. The GM part number for the oil temperature sensor is 25036292. It fits 1984 through, at least, 1989, as late as my book goes.

I found one at a car quest dealer part #72-4659, listed as a temp switch. It's installed now and the vette's back on the road again, , but my temp guage still reads low all the time, . Checked the wire for as far as I could follow it, looked good. Is this something I should be concerned about? Any ideas would be appreciated.
