Default 89 Conv. Rear View Mirror

Hello All,

The rear view mirror linkage to the windshield does not hold position very well anymore. I would like to keep everything stock and original(also like the integrated map lights).
I cannot find a way to tighten the moving joints. Does anyone else have this problem ?? Gets frustrating when you hit a bump.

Thanks Much, Great Forum !!

Yes, I've been thru 3 mirrors. Unfortunately, no way to fix that, or just replace the joint. You have to purchase a new mirror. More unfortunately, they are about $150 I believe

Wheelman,

Thanks for the reply (BTW Your the first on this forum). I'll take another look at it. The link has (2) knuckles. I might be able to pin or put a screw into the one nearest the windshield. One moving joint might be adequate and will make the entire link stiffer......

Thanks again

If you are good with a soldering iron you may be able to solder on a nut to the outside of one of those joints and drill thru the casing and use a screw in the nut to help hold the mirrors position...just a thought.
