Hey guys i just picked up my first vet its a 1992 Dark red auto 75k miles all stock except k&n filter. Anyone so far i really like the car only problem so far is the interior lights like to come on and stay on when im driving and even when after ive shut the car off. I played around with all the dials for the lights and the dimmer no luck. Randomly it seems to go off when driving and stay off until i open a door. Last night i just unplugged the battery because it was raining and i didnt have time to mess with it. i guess ill just pull the fuse for now until i get it sorted out anyone know what fuse the interior lights are on?

2nd the car is alot of fun to drive but it does lack some power id like to give it a tune up but after that im going to start looking down the long and expensive road of modding. Any suggestions exhaust is a must, stock is way to quiet. Whats system do u guys recommend.

What other performance mods would help to add some power down the road (pretty far down) id like to supercharge but until then id like to get a little more power and performance, better brakes are always important but i dont want to spend thousands on a brake kit any suggestions. Thanks in advance guys im on day 2 of being a vet owner and i love it.

welcome! I have a 92 6spd. Great year!

I would suggest you read the C4 Tech FAQ at the top of this page and get some basic ideas there.

Be weary of exhaust upgrades. The C4 cabin is VERY prone to interior drone and resonance. You don't want loud just for the sake of loud. With that said, I suggest Corsa.

At 75k miles, you need a new optispark and waterpump. This is normal (read the Tech FAQ). Plugs? I recommend NGK or Denso. The factory AC Delcos loose their platinum puck off the ground strap, resulting in the gap growing from .050 to .065. Bad. Wires? I have had good luck with Taylor. MSD and Magna-Core are good choices, too.

Better brakes? The C5 upgrade is very affordable and effective.

If it ain't broke why fix it.I had the same interior light problem on my 94 turned out to be a blown fuse.Check all your fuses.A stock lt1 auto is not a very fast car.Don't spend the money on a new opti spark if you don't have to ,mine has 119,000 miles with the stock opti. This forum is full of great info and people.Welcome to the world of corvette ownership.

Check the switch for the rear hatch. It's prone to causing the problems you describe. Unplug it and see if everything behaves normally then. Oh, and if you're planning on supercharging, plan on building a bottom end that'll take it first. Supercharging a stock engine is asking for trouble IMO. Other than that, welcome aboard!

oh, forgot... the light problem could very well be the door switch. On the top of the switch is a plunger that pulls out. Pull it out, reclose the door and it will set itself to the right height. Could be that simple.

History tells me that at 75k miles, the Gen I opti starts to get queer. A lot depends on care and if the engine has ever been steam cleaned.

Question: Any high RPM stumbles? How about a wondering idle?
