cryo treating parts
i've got a questions for anyone looking. how much is it to cryo-treat a dana 44? i'm not gonna be making enough power to warrant getting it done (i think), but i was just curious. if the price is right, i may do it anyway because it'll make it stronger. thanks!

I assume you mean to cryo treat the ring and pinion. you can't cryo treat the whole assembly. I would do some home work on the process before spending the money. Your looking for increased toughness in a differential not increased hardness. FWIW, I cryo treated the C5 rotors on my race car. They still cracked.

Cryo is a form of heat treating and if the iron/steel parts are later heated above about 600 F, any advantage obtained by the cryo treatment is eliminated at that temperature and this is why it doesn't help brake discs . Also, cryogenic treating does not universally make all metal parts tougher or stronger, many metals and steel alloys are not helped at all.
