On an 89 how do you get the back hatch to open manual? I can here a click coming from the back but it won't release. Thanks Donf

There should be a short wire you can pull to release it manually. Feel around near the lock at the rear.

The wire in my Z06 is in plain sight, could it be under the carpet on a 89? I crawled back there & looked there isn't a wire visible. Thanks

Feel around under the carpet and under the back side of the shade roll. It should be just to the pasenger side of center coming from the release latch. It is kinda hidden. Reach under the shade just to the back of it.
Good luck.

Yeah what he said. It takes some force to pull that cable.

I popped the hatch on your vette with a mini vise-grips a few weeks ago. Ron said that was the first time it had been opened. I recall the struts being in good shape though.

Check for a cable below/behind the cargo shade towards the passenger side.

Yea, lots of work so far but almost ready to autocross this coming wk. end. I bought another set of rims for some sticky tires, but will run Group 1/S until I can arrange things. This sale worked out real smooth w/Ron I'm sure he will say the same. Thanks, Donf

Is the glass just sticking to the weatherstipping? If so, Open the gas door and you can pull up on the glass at the rear to open.
