I was told by a friend of mine that I had white smoke comming out of my tail pipe as I went buy him at WOT. I'm also noticing some high temps as I cruise down the highway. 220* Highway 207* idle
Does anybody know what could cause this?? My guess is a leaky head gasket, but I'd like to know if anyone else has any opinions. Do you think a re-torque of the bolts might fix it?? Thanks guys.

hmm. How much white smoke? could it be that it's just the condensation burnign out?
Sure it's not oil?
If you have coppers or cometics, it's possible that a retorque is in order. Id say definitly not for composites.
Does she sit there and bubble after you shut her down?
Check your oil..does it look milky? You may want to do either a leak down test (requires a compressor) or a compression test. I don't think re-torquing will help a blown head gasket!
I changed the oil last night and it looked just fine.
As for loosing coolant I was on a 1300 mile road trip on Thursday and I think I might have lost some out of the resevoir tank, maybe 1/3 gal if that.
I'm running some cheap head gaskets that I got from autozone when I threw this engine together. The smoke could be oil, I haven't seen it, but I was told it was white, but he could have been wrong.
Well, I actually looked and there is white smoke comming out of the tail pipe at idle, but only on the drivers side. I'll try and do a retorque and see what happens, at this point if it blows it blows, and if not I'll keep driving it.
Considering what you have to do to access the head bolts and the real possibility that you can make it worse by trying to retorque them, I'd pressure check the cooling system. Then, to see what's going on with the motor, run a compression and leakdown test. The LT motors don't seem to suffer from blown head gaskets with any frequency, but they do seem to have an affinity for valve seals which could account for your smoke.
