I just received my headlight bushings for the repair. I'll probably be doing the install this weekend. Any last minute advice, warnings, or pictures of install? How difficult is it and how much time should I allow for the install? I found the two articles in the tips section that I printed out. This along with my helms manual should help a lot.
The first time will definitely take you longer than the other side. Get a nice, comfy shop towel to place on your workbench to lay your headlight motor bucket/assembly on so you won't scratch the finish on your paint.
Be prepared for the dowel rod that holds the headlight linkage in place to break when you tap it out with a hammer and awl. You can get them at any hardware store, so no big. Use a dab of white lithium grease to seat the new rod in the hole and reduce future corrosion.
Most importantly, DO NOT rush the job. Take your time and read the TechTips instructions carefully before proceeding. It's not hard, just a lot of steps involved in the process.
Holler at us is you run into any snags. Be blessed!

Note from my 93 rebuild:

Page 12 - Use a 1/4 inch wrench
- Make sure you look at the Gaps about the headlight assembly. If its not centered correctly, the light will bind on the hood.
- Make sure you have papers laid out. The previous gear looks like sand when you open it and it get everywhere.
- Lastly, make sure you clean you gear (if you haven't purchased a new one). Check to see if any teeth are missing.
