I'm having some trouble getting my car to run in the quarter mile as it should on the top end. I have a 383 with 24lb f/ inj. and stock fuel pump. Do I need to install a hi pressure fuel pump.
My car isn't getting over 98 mph@ 13.7... 60' 1.91.... in the Quarter.
How do you know its fuel? There could be a million things that could cause the car not to run right. Did you have it tuned at all?
I've had a chip burned by alvin so the tuning is okay for now. (fine tuning is need) . I had big increase in displacement (going from 350 to 383). when I run in the 1/4 mile I lose power at the top end of the 1/8 mile.
I have a new 383 L98 with super ram and it was running too lean and we had to back off the timing to keep from pinging. I'm waiting for a new fuel pump and then back on the dyno. I seem to remember getting a couple of dyno pulls and it was lean back then. Probably been needing a bigger pump all along.

But if you think it is a fuel related problem, you need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge, tape it to the windshield, and go for a WOT run to see where the pressure is at. Best to do this on the track with a passenger who can monitor the gauge while you drive.
