Default Throttle cable - need to shorten/adjust/replace

I have an 88 with an 89 throttle body. I had to switch to an 89 throttle cable so it connected right. Unfortunately, the cable is too long (or I am missing how to adjust it). The pedal is half way to the floor at idle and when floored, the cable only opens the throttlebody 1/2 way. Ideas on an easy fix?

Unfortunately there isn't any adjustment and I checked some of the aftermarket web sites to see if there are different part numbers between 88 and 89. There is (as you've all ready found out by swapping throttle bodies).
You may have to go back to an 88 tb and cable or go with a custom fabrication (try www. Lokar.com; http://www.yearwood.com; http://www.hotrodhotline.com/genie, which are a few suppliers of tpi cables to the hot rod industry).

Actually, I went to the hardware store, bought 1/16" aluminum crimp on ends, cut out about a 2 inch section and spliced the two together with the crimp connector.

I tried it first on the 88 cable and using a vice and vice grips, I could not get it to give, so should be plenty strong enough.
