I am getting a cover for my car starting next week. I read a similar thread earlier but I think I'm gonna stay away from the Noah's. Are there any other recommendations? I'd like to get it ASAP.
Gonna sound like crap...but i picked up a Kmart Cover and it works awesome....I paid $35.00 for it...and it was 50% off...so 70 was the original price....I do not remeber the brand becouse i tossed the box...but it did have a big number 4 in a purple square on it to show size. The others they had did not....any how...It has been through a tropical storm and I went out to check it after when it was safe and it was dry as a desert under it....I was stoked...as you know Im on Guam and the sun and rain hit hard here....
Only had it a month so how long it lasts is still up in the air..but for a budget cover I am more then happy :p:
What conditions will your car be seeing? Indoor storage, outdoor storage? This will effect the type of cover that is most appropriate for your situation.
I will advise to avoid the indoor/outdoor covers that run around $100.00. For example - the Max Tech Cover. The material just isn't soft enough on the finish in my opinion. Flannel lined is very nice against the finish, but is an indoor cover. It all depends on what your needs are.
Whatever negative things you've heard that about Noah covers is a bunch of boloney. I've been using the covers for over 12 years without a problem and they've had to deal with the New England winters.
Well I live near the Chicagoland area, so I'll be experiencing just about everything. In the summer, I like to keep it in storage and out of the sun on my new convert top but I would like something to keep the dust off of it. Same goes for the Winter. Sometimes though, I like to bring out to places for the weekend where there is a gravel road and the sun just bakes it. Since I can't keep it inside then, I would like it to be able to resist rain, dust, wind, sun, etc. I'm basically looking for a good all-round cover if they make one. If not, I could get 2: one that's great for outdoors for those weekends (which happens a lot btw during the summer) and one for the rest of the year which wouldn't do much more than keep dust off.
I will probably be transferring to a 4yr Univ in the Spring, so I might not have the luxury of keeping it in storage. But that's my main reason for looking for a good all-round cover. I don't care about the price because a cover is cheap compared to a new covert top or paint job.
This is what I would suggest you do (just did this myself).....look through the catalogs that carry the covers that you are considering, and then call them and ask them for material samples of the covers that you are interested in. Mid-America was very gracious with my request and sent out two nice size samples of the Dust Top Cover by Kimberly-Clark and a Flannel Lined cover. This made my decision much easier.
You may very well decide that two separate covers will suit your needs best, but this way you can actually see the material and get a better feel for how it may perform.
I really wish that I had done this BEFORE I ordered and spent $100.00 on the Max Tech cover. :(
