Hey guys. Its been a while since I have been on the CF. I have been lurking for a long time.
The vette has sat for the last two years undriven since I have spent more on it that I wanted to.
So, here is the thing, I want to get it running again, so took it to my guy (Guy LOL) who is a great mechanic.
Thing is, when I stoped driving it last time, the car was running like a piece of crap. My mechanic said it needs new injectors, I have had this car for 6 years and have replaced the injectors like 3 times.
What can I do to prevent this from happening again? I was thinking of some kind of fuel filter just before the fuel rail. Do you think this would help prolong the life of the injectors?
Thanks for the help and nice to see you all again.
A filter won't stop your fuel from turning into varnish when it sits for a long time. The best thing you can do for a car is drive it every now and then. If you absolutely must park it for any length of time be sure to put a quality fuel stabilizer in it and be sure and run the engine long enough for the stabilizer to get into the whole fuel system. Just putting stabilizer in the tank won't help your injectors a bit.
Thanks for the quick reply, I know the drill, I do that for my bike and snowmobile when storing them and have never had a problem.
The second time I changed my injectors was in the middle of the season, the mechanic that fixed them at the time said that they were all gummed up. I was using this as my daily driver at the time, so the only thing I can think of is crap getting past the fuel filter.
I wonder if it would be worth changing the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail, and even the fuel rail itself, as it may still have junk in it.
You might want to try Seafoam. It is suppost to work wonders for the fuel system. I changed my feed and return lines from the filter forward and it can be done with the engine in the car, just a pain. What are the fuel pressure numbers? The FPR can leak too.

what injector's have you been replacing them with ? I know I just replaced mine and I was told that my 91 had the Multec injectors in them . I was also told that they we're junk and GM used them from either 88/89 through 91 . Has your " guy" been replacing the injectors with OEM ones ( Multecs ) and when u say you have had the injectors replaced 3 times do you meen all 8 each time or has the mechanic gone in 3 separate times to replace just the bad ones ( 1 or 2 each time ) ? It would almost make sense if u had the multecs and your mechanic was only replacing the bad ones that in the near future you would have to replace some other bad ones . I was also told that fuel additives would chew through the Multecs very quick . So if your using Fuel additives and have the Multec's that could be a issue also . I just replace mine with the ford 22lb pink top injectors ( I got a super deal for new take outs from the auction site ) . I did it myself and I am far from a mechanic ( I had never even changed my oil b4 ) and it took me 2 days to do .
