Default Power Mirror Problem

The driver's side power mirror on my 86 corvette only moves left and right. When I try to move it up and down nothing happens. Any suggestions on what I can do?

I would first check if the connections of the switch and the cables are ok. On my 94 the power mirror and the power window on the passenger side sometimes quit working, if I slam the door, they are ok again.

It's probably come unhooked from the jackscrew. Remove the mirror glass and support by pulling straight out (carefully, don't break the glass). You will find a metal cross in the middle (trunion) and two plastic jackscrews that go into the motor. Check the trunion to make sure it's not broken and pull the jackscrews out of the motor, just pull them out with pliers. Make sure the motor runs, both up and down, and side to side. If not repair the broken wires. If the motor is bad I may have one laying around somewhere? Insert the jack screws into the mirror head, you will see where they fit. Then insert the trunion, it will fit only one way. Lube the trunion to make it eeasier to snap into place. Guide the screws back into the motor and snap in the trunion. Not a big job unless the motor is bad.
