I am planning on replacing the injectors on my 95 vette and have heard that the Ford 24# injectors can be used as a replacement. I was wondering if there are any possible problems doing this.
I was also wondering if the original injectors in a 95 vette are also 24#, or will I have to adjust for any difference?
You will have the adjust. They are both called 24# injectors, but Ford rates theirs at 38 PSI and GM at 44PSI so the FMS ones in a GM will actually be like 26.5 # injectors.
The FMS injectors are actually a little shorter, so just make sure that they seal and seat well. You might want to run an unlit propane torch around the injectors once they are installed with the car running. If the idle goes up, you have a leak! You might also put a touch of dielectric grease on the O-ring of the injector. Not much.
Good Luck,
You also may need to adjust the injector offset time depending on your setup. I posted the 24lb SVO injector offsets on the LT1-Edit mailing list, so they should be availible in the archives.
In order to make adjustments to the PCM, you need to purchase either LT1-Edit (www.carputing.com) or TunerCat software (www.tunercat.com). I suggest joining the LT1-Edit mailing list to learn more about tuning. You will learn a bunch by just reading current issues, as well as the archives. A short tutorial is availible here : http://para.noid.org/~lj/
