If it's just for troubleshooting purposes, have you thought about mixing high octane (100) unleaded with pump gas? A couple gallons of premium mixed with a few of 100 octane would be more of a sure bet than a can of booster...to me at least. You may have to call around, but VP makes 100 octane UNleaded. When I bought some here locally, it was around $4 a gallon if I remember correctly.
Generally you will be fine with octane boosters and your O2's. On the other hand they can foul out or at least coat your sparkplug pretty easily, esp. if they have compounds like MMT in them.
Blending with some race gas is the best way to do it - if you don't have that available you can try the xylene/toluene method, which I believe was linked about.
