Default C4 Suspension Question?????

What are a good ugrade spring for a '91 C4 Coupe .

The base suspension is how the car came no FX3 or Z51.
I have Edelbrock IAS shocks and Installed complete
Prothane ( polyurothane ) Bushing kit.

Front end is sitting quite low so I think it's time to replace springs .I just want a higher level of performance without sacrificing too much ride quality.

Any Suggestions would be appreciated

I have FE1 suspension on my 96...with Koni shocks and GM 30/26 mm sway bars. It works for me quite well and considering the springs are nearly the softest available...ride is as good as it gets.

A low front end means you don't have to lower it yourself!

Good Luck!

Thanks ,I have no complaint over the ride but I think the low front end is a result of a saggy spring and that can't be good. I 'll replace the spring with soemthing new and then lower it .

Thanks Though !!

What I would suggest is that you pick a package of springs and bars from the available stock stuff shown here from the 89-91 cars.

http://corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/c4/susp_chart.html

If you go all the way to the 1990 Z07/Z51 setup that is a pretty stiff set of springs and bars, probably as firm as you would want on the street for non-competition purposes anyway. If you do a matched set of springs and bars you will have something that is balanced as well as it can be from the factory and will minimize what will be required to tune it and get it right. Note that thru the years the Z07 package had several different spring and bar combinations, the 94 front spring being softer than the earlier (1990) front springs, so there is a range that you can pick from and get pretty much any ride/handling compromise that you want. Also note that your 91 already had a pretty stiff front spring, and there isn't a lot more that you can do unless you want to shake your fillings out.

You mention sagging spring...fiberglass springs don't wear out like a steel leaf.

Yours might be damaged or that is just the way it is...reason I mention leaving it alone and enjoying the lowering benefits (better handling due to more negative camber, lower center of gravity, etc).

My springs are OEM and have over 100,000 miles on them.

I would guess that most springs are no longer available from GM...Vette Brakes sells models that fit, but aren't GM parts of course-many have good luck with them.

Get a VBP catalog. They have a good selection of springs for every Vette.

Hi guys.. Sorry for the delayed response. I will get an engineer or tech to get up in here and address some of these questions. It may be a while before we get to the early 84-88 cars. I sure wish the early stuff could be converted to later style specs.

You realize I guess that you've responded to a thread that's nearly 13 years old!! Looks as if the entire thread lasted maybe 3 days?

check these out, somewhere between Poly and rubber bushings. I sold my set of Poly bushings and once it gets warmer I'll be putting these in

So far this is the most comprehensive coilover system for the C4. Any chance of getting the coilover shocks and heim joint end links separately? Already upgraded the sway bars and bushings not long ago but still wanna get coilovers.
