From listening to mackey in the past I think long tube headers are probably the best for my current set-up (basically stock), so that said who makes the best and most affordable ones for my LT-1 and should I gut my cats or get high flow cats. I don't really care about the clean air tests so don't consider that in your responce. also noise is not a big factor either.
thanks everyone is always such a help

You don't say if your car is an A4or 6M but if your looking at 3.73 than I'll take it is a A4. With an A4 there is no room for cats they will hit the trans and shifter cable. You can fit a set of Random on the end of the headers on a 6m car. I even tried a Y-pipe and single high flow cat but after only 1 dyno pass it was glowing red and blew out on the second pass.
I also like the full 3" SLP cat back, with very little work it bolted right up to the headers.
As far as header choice don't think about money, get the right header the frist time, this will cost you less in the long run. I went with the costed TPIS about $750.

thank you, where can I get those headers and just how hard was it to hook the SLP exaust directly to those headers. I don't post much but I read alot and your opinion means alot so thanks again Mackey

I would contact TPIS direct and see that they say. I had Cartek get mine.
Cartek also fit my SLP exhaust, from what they said it was almost a direct bolt on.
