Default I don't scrape anymore!!!!

I had new front tires installed on Saturday. Goodyear F1 GSD3 285/40/17's instead of my (i think dunlop) 275/40/17's. The meatier tire, both in added extra sidewall and a meatier tire in general gave me the extra ground clearance I needed so I no longer scrape my front air dam anymore.

I can't believe the difference!!!!

The sad thing is from the side the GSD3's make my sumito 315/35/17's look small!

I haven't had any scraping issues with the 285's.

So if your having problems with the front air dam scraping, find some meatier tires on for the front. Its amazing the difference the .25 - .5 inch makes!

you will.

sad to say, the front spring has risen because it was unloaded for the tire change... it will settle, and the rubbing will begin again.

Congrats on the new tires!!!! It is such a great feeling to have good meats again!

I think a little scrape (of the plastic air dam) every day means you are at just the right front ride height.

Pfff, ever since I ditched the 275/40/17s and put 255/50/16s all around, I've never had anymore problems scraping the front spoiler. Well, that's because my Vette has never been lowered. Having the stock ride height does have its advantages. I prefer not to bottom out like I have done on my old Hondas... Mall and shopping center speed bumps suck!!!

One of the reasons why I will never lower the front of my car.
