Does anyone know what the proper operating temperature for the L98 is? It seems lower to me than it did last year. According to my readouts the coolant is running around 175-185F and the oil is 185-195F. Is this normal or is it too low? Does it even matter if its too low? I need to have my emissions test redone and I'm wondering if this could be an issue.

Are those temps driving or idling? There has been a ton of posts regarding that lately. Search and you will find alot of answer.

Those temps are almost identical to mine on the 87, of course I have a 180 thermo, lower temp switch , with both main and aux. fans comming on at 200-205 and off at 185. I'm quite happy with those temps and our 350's like 175-185 temps!

Those are what my 86 run. Idles and drives at 180* and never over and the fan cuts on at 170*.

Temps should be at or above the thermostat rating (195) during cruising, and be between 215-230 during hot idle.

My oil temps stay within 10 degrees of the coolant temp with the factory filter mounted oil/coolant heat exchanger.

Sounds like you have a lower temp stat, or a drilled stat.

Thanks for the info I guess I'll just leave it as is and hope that I can pass the emissions test!
