Default Reverse gravity drain???

Getting ready to put on the C5 calipers when I noticed something unusual. I think my C4 calipers are on upside down.

If they are not upside down, then my C4-C5 brackets are mislabeled and my whole concept of gravity drain is shot to hell.

if you are refering to the little nipple it is the bleeder valve and is there to allow all the air out of the caliper and keep the fluid in because air is bad in brakes

if this is not what you are referring too please explain what you mean

I can't really tell from the pics. If the bleeders are on top, they are correct. Otherwise....
I just finished doing a C5 conversion on an '85 and the adapter brackets were marked wrong. There is no way they would work with the 'top' ends marked as they were. Flipped them over and all was well. I have no idea who's brackets they were. They were bought used by the car's owner.

Sonna of a ...

So the brackets are all fubar. It has the C5 caliper bleed valves pointing down. I guess since you want air to come out, up is the way to point.

You could still probably make it work by using surgical tubing and speedbleeders or a jar full of fluid, etc... and by rapidly pumping the pedal several times you'd likely cavitate or force most/all air out - depending on the size and shape of the internal caliper chambers; but the nipple IS supposed to be up.

There's a "20-something vs 40-something" girl joke in there, but I won't say it.

Play around with the brackets - I know mine work either way, and I just needed to grind the edges a little to get my GS adapters to work properly.
