can't help ya out alot on that one, but i do have a 40k mile old GM Goodwrench 255hp crate motor (longblock) sitting on the stand right now. took it out to install the BBC

500 takes it, but shipping to you would suck...

I recently had my 89 L98 rebuilt at a machine shop that has built other motors for me. He built a roller motor for me and kicked the compression and changed the cam. He said it would pass smog, and it sailed through Calif. Smog. It cost me a little over $2,000.00.
Find yourself a good machine /engine shop and do your motor. You will be so glad you did!
That included balancing the motor with a new D/M flywheel I had purchased.
Everything new, I only wanted to pull the motor once!!

New isn't available but the ZZ4 is close. Some have bought the Long Block and then traded the manifold and cam and a few other parts for the labor to install your TPI parts. Otherwise, the Short Block is a good alternative. Scoggins-Dickey is a good source, but any GM dealer can scrounge you up one.

The l98 shortblock is easy to duplicate. They had 2 bolt mains, cast crank, stock rods and cast pistons. Any good machine shop can build what you need.

Isn't an 87 and up block a roller block used in many other vehicles? I'm 99.99% sure its the same block also used in my friends '99 GMC Suburban. In other words, its pretty damn common and I bet every common junkyard has at least 10 of them laying around somewhere.

True.
The aftermarket is plentiful in cast, hyper, and forged pistons. Every shape and size for any need. Hard to find good used stuff anymore for our 21 year old cars.
How is yours working out? Andy Jensen do you right?

Most 90's truck motors are roller blocks and quite a few of them are 4 bolt mains, an excellent building block. you can pick these up for nothing out of the local paper.
Just dont want to bore them more than .030..
