Default Carb Conversion Guys - please help

85 L98 converted to carb...

I need help with the wiring on the distributor. I have a HEI, vacuum advance with built in coil. The distributor has 3 wires coming of it into a plug (red, black, and brown). What does this plug into?

Secondly, the top of the cap (the coil area) has a slot to plug something into it....what goes there?

Finally, what did you guys do with the left over wiring for the fuel injectors. What is the process for removing them?

Thanks in advance and please guys, be specific and detailed in your info.

I am going from memory, here, so I hope others can confirm this.
The RED is 12 volt keyed power, the BLACK should be grounded, and the BROWN is for the tachometer signal. You will probably have to wire these up independantly, since I believe in '85 they came off of an auxillary pigtail from the base of the computer controlled distributor.
I am not familiar with any connections on top of the HEI coil.
Most of the harness pigtails that you are eliminating with the carb conversion will eventually group together and lead back to a couple of the main 'plug ins' that snap into the back of the computer/ECM. You should be able to unplug the fuel, ignition, and EGR/emissions related harnesses. Alternator, temp sensors, starter wiring, etc. hookups will have to remain.

the 3 wires plug into the cap.
That should leave you with a place for 2 more wires.
The one closest to the carb is for your Tach and the one closest to the firewall is for power to the coil.

I hope this helps.
