Well I am going to give him a few hours with it tomorrow. He has until lunch time then it goes to another shop. I saw a camaro/corvette shop in the yellow pages and I am thinking of taking it there next. The only thing that sucks is more towing charges!
Ok, it seems that the problem was a bad relay from the starter which deep crispy fried the puter. Right now this is second hand info as I did not get to talk with the mechanic myself. I am waiting on them to get done and it seems like they MIGHT get done tomorrow. Last I heard they were waiting on the ECM which was arriving "any minute". I will update you all again when I know more. Oh, BTW when I tested the puter I had I forgot to put a chip in it so that test really did not test anything. If this was the problem the I have to say I knew it was a relay or something!! A damn shame it fried the ECM though.
OOPS! Sorry, it wasnt a relay. I think it was maybe some kind of link. Darn it I wish I would have talked to him, anywho...he is saying something fried it and it dealt with the starter. I should know for sure what it was tomorrow.

Hmm. The only thing the computer has to do with the starter is it can send a ground to the starter interrupt relay causing it to open. And that's tucked up behind the dash away from engine heat.
Unless somehow the ground got crossed with a power in some way. Actually, unless the two wires I jerry-rigged were power and ground going to the computer. If so, then since the were so close a arch could have jumped between them and thus shorting out the puter. I knew I should have put a harness on it. Oh yeah, I had the harness on order and now advance auto says they cant get it and refunded my money. So it looks like I may have to drop by the chevy dealer and fork out the dough to get the plug. BTW coaster and bogus you guys share a wealth of knowledge, please keep it coming and thanks
Its not running just yet nor does it seem like it will be in the near future. The computer was not fried but yet the guy told us it was. It turns out that the puter is good and a wire to the starter was fried. So really the only thing they have done so far is replaced that wire and told me I have a camaro ignition switch.
They got it started today! Again, this is second hand info and the only reason behind that is because I get busy at work so I have the wife call. Anyway, from what I got off of her, they replaced the distributer with a stock one and got it running. I am sure that other things were replaced as well but they said it still had some issues and we asked about the cost and thier responce was "its not that bad" This is the 5th time we asked about how much it would be and they dont even know! I can tell you right now its never going back there again. Kinda stuck now since they almost are done with it. Hopefully some of you will see me back on the road tomorrow (crosses fingers)
