I'm pulling the driveline out to replace the driveshaft yoke and am assuming that the tranny/engine will swing about the motor mounts. Can I just use a jack under the transmission to support it and keep it from moving?
yep. that will work fine. you will want the tranny to sag whilst removing the driveshaft and c-beam... after that, support it so it won't hurt the motor mounts.
What Bogus said. I would use a 2x4 or other piece of wood in between the jack and the tranny to distribute the pressure on the tranny. You will need to move the tranny up/down on the jack to r/r the driveshaft and c beam (at least I did).
I would stablize it... let the jack support the driveline while removing the c-beam bolts. once out, then lower the transmission to releave the tension on the driveshaft, then support it after.
There is a fair amount of slop in the holes and the trans can be moved up and down with the bolts in but loose. There is a spec in the manual for the clearance from the top of the trans to the floorboard. My manual is not handy or I would give you the measurement. I'm sure someone has it.
