If I buy headers that fit the stock iron heads on my '85 and later decide to do the swap to '113' heads or AFRs, cam, superram, etc. will the headers still fit?

Yes but the ports are a little different. You might want to open the ports on the header up a hair, depending on the size of the port. Probably also want to use like a felpro1404 gasket to ensure good sealing.
Hi.
I have an 85 4+3. I bought TPIS headers with emission tubes on. They fit very well but I cannot see any necessity tp open up ports on the headers. The headers have 13/4" primary tubes and you can use all the stock accessories as before . Changing plugs is just very simple with the 113 or the AFR L98 heads. I have the stock iron heads and changing of the plugs are even easy there. You need not take off the starter. Good luck. Do buy coated ones as they keep the engine room temp down!
The headers will fit. Most headers fit the L98, C4s, without year restrictions. Where there is one it is due to the EGR hook up rather than the port size or shape.
My 86E is the same as the 85, so TPIS headers will fit for sure, its a tight fit around a couple plugs so you will need a few plug wire boots.
Though both Hooker and TPiS fit over the behemoth starter, you would be SMART to go ahead and change that to the 88-91 starter which is about half the size and weight. Otherwise you will have to remove that header to get off the OE starter should it go out.
