It worked last year but now is dead. I tried jumping out the low pressure switch but am not sure if I did it right. It's a 92 vert. The LP connector has 3 contacts in a triangle. When I jumped one side the fan turned on, the other side did nothing. Jumped 12 volts to the compressor and it came on. What am I missing. Also was told that the replacement for r-12 is something called hot shot or something like that. Never heard of it.
Go to the "Google" search site and type in "hot shot r-12 replacement". I was surprised to see how many r-12 replacement products are available.
Yes, and many of them are very dangerous! Either stay with R-12 or convert to R-134. And from what little we know it sounds like the binary/trinary/pressure switch is doing what it is supposed to, but without following full diagnostics from a FSM you are strictly shooting in the dark. Be carefull you don't shoot yourself in the foot.
Whoa - low pressure switch is a 2 wire setup either on the Evaporator outlet or the Accumulator. The 3 wire switch is a thermistor used by the PCM to monitor a/c operation. Cross those wires up and you can damage the PCM. With no codes, and assuming no damage to the PCM, try disconnecting and reconnecting the low pressure switch or just wriggling around the harness. An intermittent or bad connection will sometimes showup as the conditions you've described. If no joy, clear memory by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. If the a/c comes on and stops again, recheck for codes.
