Gas tank pressure
Is it normal to have a lot of pressure in your gas tank? Everytime I fill my tank I have to vent off quite a bit of pressure before removing the cap completely. Is this normal?

Could be that the vacuum line leading from the tank to the charcoal canister near the driver's side headlight is blocked, has a leak or the canister filter needs replacing.
I inadverently blocked mine off some time back and my tank began doing the same thing, building pressure. Once I reconnected the hose properly, the tank no longer built pressure.

Someone earlier posted about this and what they found and I found the same on my 86 is the hard vapor line that runs from just in front of the left rear wheel up to the engine bay was blocked, not allowing the vapor to vent to the cannister. At one time the 4 inch piece of rubber that connected this pipe to the rear section was split and was getting bad gas smell, but no leakage. After replacing the hose, started getting the super pressurized fuel tank. Try blowing air thru that long line with both ends disconnected and that will probably be your problem. Good Luck.
