Perhaps I did post this topic in the wrong section (C4 general). But anyway, here's the general idea. I am very interested in putting NOS on my '86 convertible. I have about 100k and other than a low temp stat, K&N, muff. elims., and Rapid Fire plugs, my car is completely stock. Will someone please tell me if this is realistic or if it's a terrible idea. Just the idea gets my heart pumping but I really don't want to blow up my motor.
Will other mods be mandatory in the process. And how much can I expect to improve (currently low/mid 14's). Thanks for any advice.
Well... The only advice I can give you is it's "easy power". Do a compression test and a leak down test change your plugs and oil. If everything works out perfect go for it. Even with 100k a healty motor can handle a 100 shot. Just go over the pros and cons. think it over. I just got finished install nitorus on a 96 Rustang... lemme tell ya.. you feel the difference.
I just bought nitrous for my Stingray and have been considering it for the C4. My main concern is shocking the Dana 36 and breaking halfshafts and/or U-joints. I think a set of colder plugs as well as possibly installing a nitrous retard controller might not be a bad idea. Again, I have no firsthand experience but from talking to people running it and doing some research, it seems to be feasible, though I am starting with 50 hp jets in my 75 and working my way up.
I running a 250hp nos on my 87 roadster, the motor is all stock ,im using a direct port foggers drilled into the runners,im using the stock fuel pump and the stock regulator,im using the stock spark plugs and the car is retarted 8 degrees, for the jets .073 nitrous and .078 for fuel, stock w/o the nitrous im doing 13.4@106,with nitrous im t\im the low 12s :chevy

 You have incredible luck! with that much power/NOS I'd have at least a backup pump in there for the volume of fuel that's needed. You don't want to burn anything. 250 is a good size shot for a stock motor. Don't hesitate to put a little good gas(race) in there. AND IF IT DETONATES GET OUT OF IT. :seeya
No way is vettepacecar spraying 250HP on a stock motor and only going low 12's. First it would grenade itself and second it would be going 10's easy. It's probably more like 150hp at best.
i have a timed progressive nitrous controller in this system ,the car can hit 10.9 @ 133 but since IHRA prohibits me to stay in the 12s because it is a roadster and it doesnt have a roll bar, as for 13.4 @106 i can do this all day long ,maybe u just cant drive right
i bought this car with this setup in it and i dont know if it had any motor work done to it ,I bought it at a divorce auction and the former owner is unreachable, the only mod ive done is straight dual exhaust. :chevy

I guess none of the rest of us (stock) L98 owners can drive right then.
A "stock" L98 is not capable of that speed in the 1/4 mile. It can't flow enough air at higher RPM's. Your car must have head and/or intake work done on it.
