Convertible hatch rattle fix?
Has anyone ever been able to fix a loose convertible hatch (tonneau cover) rattling at the latches? I've cured it temporarily wrapping the striker with electrical tape or velcro, but it wears away quickly. I've been considering heat-shrink tubing and rubber bushings, but I'm wondering if there's an adjustment I can do instead.

If I remember right the stops for the cover are adjustable. You can screw them out to make them longer and have more tension on the cover. I tried this a while back but the amount of adjustment needed left a sizable gap between the cover and the rest of the body.

I have played with the bump stops already and you're right, they only push the cover up and further away from the body, and it's too far away as it is. I need to adjust it down, not up.

I never messed with one of these on a C4 (only a C2, but the same basic principles apply), but if there isnt a way to move the latch or striker down (whichever ones on the body), and if not, possibly slotting the mounting holes on them? All this is assuming your weatherstriping and latch parts are in really good shape (no grooves worn on the latch parts, weatherstriping nice and firm, with no collapsed areas, etc...).
