Ok if you are like me and you don't like being embarassed in public by the anti theft deal that kills the starter and makes the horn blare forver when you use the key to lock the door and use the slide to unlock the door here's a way to disable it.
Next time ya are working on the radio or replacing DIC bulbs look on the left behind the DIC
next to the shiny sliver relay and red wire
pull this 10 amp fuse and thats all there is to it
if ya wanna be real fancy and dont want it to be permenant relocate the fuse, or splice one of the wires running to it and conceal a small switch

that will disable your anti-theft but unfortunately, you lose your horn in the process - at least that was what I discovered when my horn quit working and I found a blown fuse in that location.
Not to be stupid or hijack the thread but if i just pull the vats system fuse on the passenger side with nothing else messed with, what will also be affected will i be locked out mess up the starter no horn??? Please only serious respones and I appologize to the starter of this thread.....for my dumb quiestion
Well, I certainly don't pretend to be an expert on the C4, but I presumed that the pictures and the fuse behind the DIC was of an 84 or 85. I could be wrong but I think that VATS was introduced in 86 and things might be different. I don't know if there is a fuse identified in the fuse panel for the security system on my 85, but I'll look the next time I have the cover off.
hmm are there any other fuses behind ther radio there i may be unaware of? someone put an aftermarket radio in my 84 and my horn and radio dont work due to a suposed fuse. does anyone know if that fuse will affect these things? id hate to go pulling stuff apart to fix it if its irrevelent to the horn and radio. im not too worried about fixing those at the moment anywaysd got other fish to fry but if its possable id mess with it before i forget where it is or something by the time i get around to it.

First, this the OP's info is only valid for the '84 and '85 (pre-VATS) models.
Second, the In-Line fuse the OP talks about is only for the Theft Deterrent Control Module and in no way should stop the horn's normal functioning. If you had a horn problem and this fuse was blown and you corrected your your problem by replacing this fuse, I think you may have some non-standard wiring. If you mean the CTSY/CLOCK fuse in the fuse panel, that makes more sense.
Third, there is no fuse in your '85 fuse panel for the security system.

In the early VATS cars with the VATS Decoder Module (like your '86), if you pull the VATS fuse, the VATS Decoder Module will cease to function. Meaning no starter and no fuel enable, meaning NOGO. Won't bother your horn though! It will continue to work fine with either the button or the alarm.
