Default which oil do I use?

silly question to ask, but after my problems I've had with a local shop I don't do any business with them nor do I want to talk to them. My car is an 85 383 with miniram/heads/cam etc....whats a good oil to use ? I remember the shop did Not use the oil a stock l98 would use...thanks

I'd go with Mobil 1, 5w-30.

Be well,

Hate to hijack but.. what about high mileage cars (180k and up)? Still go with synthetic or what?

I might go with a little higher viscosity on the L98-based engine.
Something like Mobil 1 15W-50?
By all means, stick with a synthetic. (I have a VW with 230,000 miles on it and it gets Valvoline SynPower exclusively)

Is this a brand new 383? If it has not been broken in then dino to start for a couple thousand or so.

If its broken in, either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple would be my choice.

its newly rebuilt 383 with about 1500 miles or less on it, course now I have blowby which is being looked at right now by a different performance shop. The only way to replace a ring or 2 is to remove the engine right ? no other ways around it...?
