Default quick fixes

i've heard of seafoam on this sight and have been thinking about running it through my engine to see if it clears up a noise, how should i go about this
also my foreman and boss think marvel mystery oil may help too, how should i go about using this

the noise seems to be coming from a lifter

You can use both of those additives in the gas and the oil. Read the directions on the bottle. I know this goes against the male mindset!
Both are good products if used correctly.

Love SeaFoam, but while the directions call for a 1/3 in tank, 1/3 in oil and 1/3 in through vac line, that's not how I do it. I put 1/2 in fuel tank, and while keeping the RPMs betweeen 1500-1800 feed the other half through the brake booster vacumn line...I really don't like putting additives in my oil, and the way I've done it has worked for me for years. As far as Marvel goes, I guess its worked for some guys, I just never had any luck with it.

SeaFoam is great but it won't fix a bad lifter/that needs an adjustment.
What it will do is smooth out a rough idle and clean your injectors. It cleans carbon deposits in the T/B & fuel rail etc.

I use 1/2 in the gas tank and 1/2 in the brake booster vac line.

Good luck.

i had my shop foreman and one of my bosses adjust the the rockers but to no avail. i think that while the car was sitting something may have stuck and is still sticking a little

if these don't work i will pull the oil pan and check my bearings and if that is okay then i will either pull the intake or sell the thing before i sink a ton of cash in it

the best way is to rip the block apart see wats wrong and start replacing stuff......if not then its gunna be hell down the road. From your previous post you seem to like your car but you seem to have a tight budget. That could be to your advantage. Not to get off topic but you said you had a bad paintjob. Leave it as is till you get the money and as for the motor issues.......YOUR A MECHANIC use your own tools and a free weekend wrench out all you can get with the free mods. Vaders site has them and shop around for good prices. Once you get the basics start moving up headers, true dual ect. It will keep your car running good. Your car is twenty years old so its had a beating. To still be running its doing good. Consider yourself very fourtanate. I blew my motor 15 days after i bought it. But basically like the above clean it up and make it into a sleeper. It will be worth it and youll save money and have a hell of a car.

thanks for the positive outlook and you are correct i am on an incredibly tight $8/hr budget with a 50 hr week so time is tight too
i got the car for it's low 77k miles (big mistake)
this noise is hard to diagnose and my boss thinks it might be a main bearing or rod knocking so i plan to change the oil and look for metal and all that
at some point i think i will pull the pan and inspect the bottom end. can this be done with the motor in the car? if so i will have to get a weekend with the lift at work if not i will be pulling the intake i want the intake to be my last resort as it looks to be a major PITA
i'm gonna get the painter at work to shoot my car and another guy to buff it out and i will do all prep and wet sanding so paint is gonna be fairly cheap i figure

Well nwo your car will be styling but I hope it stays running a main bear/rod is gunna be a bitch if you have to replace that. Thats what happend to mine made a awful noise. Labor is what kills the most but anyhow your a mechanic when u get a free weekend just inspect the car get cheaper parts since u did not get the car for racing??? Am i correct on that? If its your daily driver you need to forget the paint keep the usual maintanence up and expect problems. Im no expert but when u get alotta ponies with a torque monster like the L-98 somthing is bound to give way and its not cheap. Thats the price we pay for having our cars. But damn there fun as hell when they run
