Default Header questions.

What is the bung hole for, at the top of the TPiS Headers, between the center pipes? I noticed others like the Hookers don't have these.

If you get headers already coated, with no bungs for O2 sensors in the collectors, is it ok to put the O2's in the extensions right after the collectors?

Do you have to have o2 extensions in all cases with LT's, or will the stock O2 wires be long enough? I have heard you can unwind the wire some to make them long enough?

I believe the answer to your first question is that hole is for the EGR AIR pump assembly... As I'm sure you've read here... many people remove all of that and sometimes it is becuase not all headers are made with provisions for the pump assembly (as you have noted)...

As for the others questions - I'd also like to know the answers as I will be doing long tube headers by the end of summer (or at least whether or not I will need extensions - I will be doing SWs myself so I won't have the bung problem).

Yea, I knew it was for some type of emmissions, but just wasn't sure what. I will be deleting the EGR etc., and I wasn't sure why these were there becuase they make another set with the emmissions tubing etc. I believe these bungs are sealed and you have to open them up if you want to use, right?

I needed O2 sensor wire extensions for both sides when I installed my TPIS headers, though I've heard some people haven't needed them, there was no way I would be able to get my stock wire harness to work. I ordered the extensions from Summit. For some reason TPIS had the O2 bungs on the sides of the collectors instead of the top which is why I had the problem...

They are for the A.I.R. system. This can be eliminated on a '95 w/ no issues. I've had headers on mine both with and w/o O2 bungs in the collectors. Even when they were installed just beyond in the connector pipes I had no trouble getting the stock wiring to reach. With the '95's heated O2s, they'll also work equally well in either location.

I called TPiS recently and they said they only come with gaskets! This is strange because others have said the same as you. Maybe they cut back recently.
