I have this problem every now and then on my '88, where my SES light will come on, and when I take my foot off the accelerator at approximately 50mph and up, I feel like I'm being pushed backwards by gravity!
It feels as though I have my brakes on and I even slow down faster (idle slow-down) than when the problem isn't there.
I tried to pull codes from it, but after I turn off my car, the problem immediately goes away! No codes are coming from it =(
If anyone has experienced this before, please let me know!
It may be MAF related! ON my 86 , I had a bad MAF relay and when it would act up , the throttle acted like it was on a knife edge. It either accelerated or decelerated sharply. But , In my case it threw a code so I was able to diagnose it. Hope you find the problem.

Thanks! Maybe I'll carry my diagnostic tool with me (it comes with a book, so it's more practical than a paper clip lol)
Maybe I can get it to act up again and pull over really fast, turn it off, jam the tool in there (gently, of course ) and get a code!
I just bought this MAF from Advance Auto on 5/20 so I called and they said they'd replace it. He wanted me to bring it in, but I explained that it's my DD, so he'll let me swap it in the parking lot
Thanx for the help =)
I'm also getting a Code 14 - Bad Coolant Temperature Sensor @_@!! I'll have to dig into that one. Glad I had one problem, which let me find 1 unknown!
