Oil pressure on C4

Oil pressure on C4

My C4 has an oil pressure reading of 20 when at idel. I tend to think this is low. If so how hard is it to fix? Getting to the oil pump I mean.

20 psi at idle and 10 psi per 1000 RPM is a good rule of thumb.

The oil pump does not create pressure. The pump creates flow and it is the resistance to that flow that causes pressure. You can increase the pressure by increasing the resistance to flow. Such as by tightening up in the main and rod bearing clearances.

If thats a hot idle, say 190-200+, then its fine.

I had an old TA that would run at 5psi. Then jump to 80 as soon as you gave it some gas.

20 psi is normal and just fine. As long as it goes up with RPM.

Your okay! your pressure is not to low! if you want it to go up a little then run some synthetic oil with a little more weight!(if it bothers you, I went from 5w30 to 10w40 and am pleased with the results, especially here in the heat of the Ca. desert)
