Default Loose Rearview Mirror

The interior rearview mirror on my '86 coupe keeps coming loose. Not falling off loose, but just enough to be wiggling around going down the road. This makes it useless. I re tighten the screw, and it loosens up again.
Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a practical, permanent fix ?

get some loc-tite. remove the screw. apply said loc-tite on the threads of the screw, and reinstall the aforementioned screw.

sounds pretty neat, eh?

its rather easy... should stop it from coming loose.

Loctite was the first thing I tried. No effect on the problem at all.

I guess I'm just screwed. I can't believe mine is the only one with this problem..

Have you looked at the mirror real good?

I have a 90, dont know if it is much different then yours, but mine is not loose at the screw this time around, it is the up and down movment in the mirror itself, I can see when I look behind the mirror housing, the movement. Havent found a fix yet, well havent tried anything for that matter.

Mine was doing that when I got it, it's tight now, but I'm sure will work it's way out again, eventually.

Loc-tite worked on mine too. If it's not the screw though it might be time for a new mirror.

I never used to have this problem until the screw came loose. I couldn't tighten it much because the head was stripped. Once it came loose, my lazy **** never got around to getting a replacement screw. After several months of being annoyed, I finally got one and now my mirror is all loose like yours. The screw is plenty tight, but I think I just need a new mirror as well. Not really a requirement but it sure is annoying having to adjust it every 10 min.
