I think I felt a difference in my 89 over 60. Although for 300 dolllars I may have just subconciously convinced myself there would be an improvement to justify the purchase. :D Yes there is always the possibility of water injestion with these setups. Although I think the only time you should be really concerned is when and if your driving on roads with standing water. I will not be going with a ram air set up on the 96 though, I think they're over rated on a vette with a stock intake setup. Just my .02
I showed about a 6-10 hp gain over the open lid from installing the SLP ram air setup. That's based on trap speed increase.
If you want to try this setup just cut the bottom side from your air box and build on a rectangular tunnel that extends through a slot cut in the front of the radiator shourd and into the radiator air stream. This "tunnel" should be closed on the bottom and have an open slot across the bottom front to "scoop" in the air.
I could snap off a copla pics and e-mail em too you if you like.
I too don't worry about injesting water unless it's standing water. Splashes cannot get into this intake.
65ZO1, yes could you pls send me some pics at chandlers@prodigy.net
I was thinking of routing air under or since I'm going to replace my frt bumper with fibreglass, I was thinking of cutting two nostrils on the old bumper (since the car looks like a black shark or something) And I live in rainy Washington so there is a lot of rain around here... that's whats making me have 2nd thoughts. thanks,,,,,Seth
