I wouldn't waste my time with the switch from c4 calipers to c5's...I was just considering doing the same work and opted for a wilwood front and rear kit...have the brakes on the car for about a week...they are sick!!!...my car brakes better then a new Z06.....seriously...I got the parts from tbyrne motorsports...they were great....the front kit came with rotors, pads, braided hoses, and 6 piston superlite calipers...for the rears, I kept stock calipers and put on wilwood rotors, pads, and braided hoses...I couldn't be happier...all told, the parts ran me a lil' over 2 grand...but, it's been well worth the price of admission!!!...hope this helps...Brian

Well, I did and I am very happy with them. I can lock my brakes at will (engage ABS I mean) and haven't been able to overheat them during track days. What more do you get with 2-3x the price of C5 kit? Did you get 2x the performance? 3x? I doubt it.
I also have experience with big Brembo brakes - in a Porsche. Still I am happy with my C5 brakes which really are an improvement over stock C4 stuff.
They worked nicely straight on but later I added the DRM balance spring and liked the results even more.
it makes sense, if your looking to save money to do the c4 to c5 zo6 conversion...I've heard good things about this mod...I was just very skeptical of having to add adapter brackets and the fact that you may have to change your rims...which will run at least another $800 to do it right...that adds to almost the 2 grand the wilwood kits cost me and I couldn't be happier with the performance...it's the same setup that track cars are using on the gt pro circuit....but, if you don't intend to take the car on the track, the c5 kit would be more then adequate...I guess it all depends on how your gonna use the car...I'll tell you one thing though...the car looks soo much hotter with hard core aftermarket kits (like wilwood, mov'it, stoptech) then with standard gm parts...
I've seen C5's/Z06's run on the track all day without any problems and great performance. With the right set of pads you will likely get 90+% of the performance of a Wilwood or Brembo setup for about a third of the cost. Plus, replacement rotors and pads for C5's are VERY reasonable.
It was based on my observations at the track that I decided to do the C5 upgrade. Highly recommended -- and make sure you get the DRM spring.
I would like to make this conversion on my 93 and keep my original wheels. I get the feel that this does not work with some brackets. Who makes the brackets that allow the calipers to fit in the stock wheels?
If you shop around (EBay, Junk Yards, Web Browsing, used parts etc) you may/will get it cheaper than buying an already C5 kit. I bought all parts from different vendors. Rotorpros, EBay and Hawk
