$$$$.. NOS is cheapest. Alot of guys will chime in on the heads/cam/header/chip upgrades to give you some hp. Others will chime in with 383 upgrades. But 100hp might come with a $2500+ pricetag depending on the condition of your motor.

It took heads/cam, headers/high flow cats/Flowmaster cat-back, e. water pump, 52mm TB, tuning software/dyno time, and a few more mods for my car to gain 100+ hp.
As others have said, it can get expensive. But, as soon as you hit the accellerator it is worth every penny.
NOS is very bad, some people blow their motors with only a 900 shot! Use suger instead. Bigger boost for cheaper, and it cleans your cylinder walls at the same time! Everybody wins.
Nitrous is NOT bad for your engine if you have a mild tune up.
Any engine in decent shape can take 100 horsepower of nitrous easily. If your engine blows from 100 horsepower of nitrous it would have blown with 100 horsepower of induction system such as cam, heads, intake. Like any tune up with any engine you do not want a lean condition or you will hurt your engine. I commonly spray my engines with 300 and 400 horsepower of nitrous and I think I could give it more. The key is enough fuel, retard the timing, tighten your plug gap and depending on your bottom end will depend on how much hp jetting you spray your engine with.
