What is the max. HP they can handle?
If there are any weak parts, what are they?
Any relation to a T56,or is it a completely different animal?
Is there anyone doing upgrades/rebuilds to these?
Thanks again guys
Dominic
A ZF and a T56 are completely different animals.
They are atelast as stout as the T56. If the clutch is not releasing properly, or you are not shifting properly, you will ruin the syncros in a hurry. Other than that they are pretty stout. The earlier years (89-92 or so) were beefier, but either version should take 500 RWHP / 500 RWTQ forever. There are a coule guys on here with the stock older version throwing 700+ RWTQ at them with no problems. tpi421vette actually broke his Dana 44 diferential case while using the stock 91 ZF6.
www.zfdoc.com is the only place I know of that will do anything to them other than rebuild them with stock parts. I believe www.zfdoc.com will do a race ready rebuild and warranty it for a year against any HP level, but you'd have to get on their website or maybe call them to find out.
